     This is a facility designed for those who love to see things being made, who are interested in processes, who like to learn about fiber animals, bead history and the fashion industry, and all those who simply love beautiful clothing, home decor and accessories.  Class list follows. We encourage you to pre-register at least a week in advance so we can gauge supplies and determine class interest.  If fewer than 3 students have registered, class may be cancelled.  Last minute registrations are usually accepted so long as minimum has been reached and there are enough supplies.  You may register by phone or in person.

     Yarn Lovers Book Club, aka "Knit Flix": Choose from over 35 yarn related books per year, as many as you can read for the annual cost of $35. Listen or talk at the book review on the 3rd Saturdays or exchange when convenient and keep books as long as you like, "no late fees"! Books include a variety of subjects including knit and crochet patterns and instructions, yarn related novels and mysteries, and topics such as yarn dyeing, spinning and weaving. All books are new. Book club members may purchase used book club books at 20% off list price, and may also put books on reserve. See below for a sampling of current books available. 

     Knitters please join us for the "Saturday Morning Knitting Society and Book Club" every 3rd Saturday of the month, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and going until around 3:00 p.m. Sit and knit or stitch any kind of needle art (crochet, needlepoint, cross stitch, etc). We will also discuss books from the book club. 

     We also offer a nice selection of books, videos, DVD's and magazines to help you further improve your skills. Try a new project following directions in one of our books, videos, DVD's or magazines.  We are here to help you!

Beading Classes

Beginning Beadstringing

Make a simple necklace, bracelet and earring set. The necklace is made on flexible wire and we will show the difference between the various crimping tools.  The bracelet will be made on stretchy cord and learn how to twist head pins to make a perfect pair of earrings.

Date: This class repeats the 2nd Saturday of each month beginning in March 2010, except when pre-empted by special classes as listed below. Students who have already taken this class once may bring any beading project for which they have problems or questions and begin more advanced projects.

Time: 1 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
$25.00 first time, $15 of the fee may be spent towards materials. May repeat class for $15 of which $10 may go towards materials.

  Wire Cuff Bracelet with Swarovski Crystal Cubes and other wire wrapping projects.
Back by popular demand and limited to 6 students, square sterling silver wire forms the base of this spectacular bracelet studded with crystals of your choice.

Class will alternate with wire necklace and earrings as desired by participants.

Date: 4th Saturday in June, August and October.
Class dates may change up to 2 weeks prior to schedule, so be sure to check back.

Time: 1- 4 p.m.
$25.00 plus materials (about $15 for sterling silver and about $13 for swarovski crystal cubes)

Yarn Classes

Beginning Knitting
If you've never picked up knitting needles, this is the class for you!  Learn and practice the basics of hand knitting and begin to learn knitting instructions and abbreviations.  You will learn to cast on, cast off, knit stitch, purl stitch, and combine those to make the garter stitch and stockinette stitch.  You will use straights and circular needles. Class comes complete with book and kit and you will have a class project to complete and may begin a second if desired.

Time and Date: Four consecutive Thursdays from 1-3 p.m. starting first Thursday in September. You do not have to do the entire series and may start with any class (we will catch you up).
$90.00, $50 of which you may put towards materials.

Intermediate Knitting 
A continuation of the beginning class, you will learn yarn overs, cables, how to fix knitting problems, finishing techniques, reading and understanding of pattern abbreviations, double pointed needles and more.

Time and Date: Four consecutive Thursdays from 1-3 p.m. starting first Thursday in Oct. 2010.
You do not have to do the entire series and may start with any class (we will catch you up).
$90.00, $50 of which you may put towards materials.

  Beginning Crochet And Spinning

Every other Monday night in Cottonwood at the shop, Every other Monday night in Sedona at 711 Forest Rd.
I'm staying late to crochet and spin. Please join! I'll teach you whatever you need to know about crochet, including Tunisian Crochet (CrochetKnit), and we will also sit and spin. Just plain fun, come and join. $10 plus materials.

"Saturday Morning Knitting Society and Book Club" Coffee and set up begins at 10:30, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. filled with working on your own project, Show and Tell, Question and Answer, discussion of books from book club members, (see details on book club above). Croissant sandwiches by La Crema served at 1:00 for anyone who wishes to order. You may also bring your own. Below is a sampling of some of the books available for the book club at Alley Cat.
